Top Tips for Storing Your Businesses Confidential Data

Confidential data is a valuable asset for any business, but it can be difficult to keep this data safe and secure.  Data breaches are becoming more common, and businesses can suffer huge losses as a result. In addition, confidential data can be used to steal identities or commit fraud.

Here are some great tips to help you protect your company’s confidential data. The first step should be enabling full disk encryption on all devices.  Second tip is to only transfer encrypted files over Wi-Fi or Bluetooth connections.  Be sure to keep a copy outside the office space in a safe storage facility. It is also important that we delete old versions if there isn’t anything worth keeping. We also recommend that your IT team creates a backup plan (and creates the actual backup) before beginning work with any new software programs like Microsoft Office 365 which often contain bugs not yet fixed by developers!

Redundancy can be your friend of the most sensitive data.  Redundancy assures that you have numerous copies of your information, should one or more sources fail.

We encourage you to be consistent with your storage plan plus any necessary security updates, and upgrades.  If this part is too overwhelming to handle then reach out and let us know how we can be of help!  We offer managed IT solutions that can help and create a great defense and backup plan for your company technology.
